Welcome to the Humane Center for Animal Welfare (HCAW)
The Humane Center for Animal Welfare (HCAW) promotes animal welfare issues in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan since the year 2000 by providing professional veterinary care, raising awareness and conducting educational programs in cooperation with teaching institutions, and in particular with the Jordanian Ministry of Education.
Veterinary & Support Services
At our clinic and hospital, we provide FREE veterinary services to the working and productive animals of the underprivileged, and to those whose livelihood is dependent upon their animals and their livestock. In support of those owners who cannot afford to bring their sick animals to our hospital, we deploy our mobile veterinary clinic to poverty pockets in rural areas for free treatment. While attending to these communities, HCAW seeks to raise animal welfare awareness and to effect positive change in the day-to-day care and health of all animals. In doing so, HCAW attempts to ensure not only the well-being of the working and productive animals, but also the prosperity of the families they serve.

As a not-for-profit organisation, HCAW is dependent on grants and donations for the sustenance of its free veterinary and educational services; this income is augmented by charging pet owners nominal fees for professional veterinary services, and through the provision of other support services such as boarding, grooming and micro-chipping, all at our facilities at the “King of Bahrain Forest”.

In a very successful and on-going cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, we conduct FREE education classes at public schools about animal welfare. To date, we have established 80 Animal Welfare Clubs at as many schools all across Jordan. HCAW also conducts bi-annual seminars and workshops with teachers and coordinators involving over 100 educators and 1,600 students each year. On our premises, we also offer popular animal awareness lessons for private school students aged between 4 and 13 years.
Additionally, we place great importance on supporting the development and improvement of the veterinary profession in Jordan. In coordination with the “Jordanian University for Science and Technology (JUST),” we offer an applied course on professional veterinary principles for 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students.

HCAW is home to around 300 companion and working animals, most of them being abandoned dogs and cats, but among them also mistreated horses, donkeys, and other pets. We exert our best efforts to offer shelter and care to them and to finding them new loving homes.
